SIOUX CITY, IA – December 26, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) — The Siouxland Heritage Foundation announced a $10,000 grant from The Powell Group Fund – Sioux City of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation for the “Our New Museum” capital campaign today.

The purpose of the Powell Fund is to support nonprofit organizations that can demonstrate that they have planned their projects with respect to the community’s greatest opportunities. Powell Broadcasting operates six radio stations in Siouxland, including KSCJ AM which began broadcasting in 1927.

“Having the support of Powell Broadcasting is especially meaningful given KSCJ’s place in our city’s history,” said Steve Hansen, director of the Sioux City Public Museum. “For more than 80 years, they have been reporting on the people and events that have shaped this community’s history.”

The “Our New Museum” capital campaign continues to raise funds from a broad cross-section of the community, including local organizations, foundations, businesses, and individuals. To date, more than $8.6 million has been raised for the new Museum facility.

The non-profit 501(c)(3) Siouxland Heritage Foundation was created to oversee design, construction and fundraising of the new Sioux City Public Museum in downtown Sioux City. The new Museum will contain multipurpose classrooms, offices, a conference room, artifact and exhibition preparation rooms, food prep space, a theater, large temporary exhibit spaces, archival storage, and a gift shop.

Along with 1360 KSCJ, Powell Broadcasting also owns Jack Fm 102.3, KSUX 105.7, KOOL 99.5, and Y101.3 FM, all in Sioux City, and 1410 KLEM AM in Le Mars, Iowa.
