Property tax deadline nears, pay options can be found online

MASON CITY — Cerro Gordo County Treasurer Michael J. Grandon is reminding all taxpayers that first-half fiscal year 2006 real estate taxes and fiscal year 2008 mobile home taxes are due in the treasurer’s office by 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1.

Grandon encourages taxpayers to consider the online property tax payment service. The option may be accessed at www.iowatreasurers.org.

Taxpayers mailing payments are reminded payments must be postmarked by midnight on Oct. 1. Mailing payment on Monday, Oct. 1, does not guarantee an Oct. 1 postmark. Penalties are based upon the United States Postal Service postmark on the face of the envelope.

The treasurer’s office in the courthouse is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
