Boswell announces more than $2.74 million for homeless assistance programs in Iowa’s 3rd District
Washington, DC - December 28, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — Today, Congressman Leonard Boswell announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $2,745,287 in Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance (CoC) awards for Iowa’s 3rd District.
“During this holiday season, it is important to remember those that are less fortunate and struggling in our communities,” Boswell said. “This funding will go toward programs in Iowa’s 3rd District that provide supportive services to homeless persons.”
The Continuum programs are the Supportive Housing Program, Shelter Plus Care Program and the Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation for SRO Dwellings for Homeless Individuals. Funds are awards in an annual national competition.

· City of Des Moines, House of Mercy at Capitol Park: $227,468
· City of Des Moines, House of Mercy Transitional Housing 2009: $289,732

· City of Des Moines, Iowa’s Continuum Outcome & Universal Needs Tool Kit: $110,250
· City of Des Moines, Primary Health Care Enhancement: $256,108
· City of Des Moines, Primary Health Care Street Outreach: $85,000
· Crisis Intervention Services, Pathway to Independence: $36,166
· Iowa Finance Authority: $100,056
· Iowa Institute for Community Alliances: $282,728
