CONGRESSMAN LOEBSACK ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $2.5 MILLION IN STIMULUS FUNDING FOR EASTERN IOWA AIRPORT

March 24, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Dave Loebsack (IA-02) announced the Department of Transportation awarded a $2,536,062 grant to the Eastern Iowa Airport Commission.  The funding will be used to rehabilitate the primary runway.  These funds are available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“The Eastern Iowa Airport provides critical air service for Southeast Iowa and is essential to maintaining and expanding our business sector,” said Congressman Loebsack.  “I am pleased to announce funding that will allow the airport to safely make necessary repairs and upgrades.”

This funding represents is part of an ongoing effort to maintain and improve the Eastern Iowa Airport.  The airport dates back to the 1920s and serves over 500,000 passengers a year.
