The funds are made available through the Homeless Assistance Program, which is a combination of the federal Emergency Shelter Grant program and the state Shelter Assistance Fund programs and are jointly administered by the Iowa Finance Authority.

HUD Awards Funds for Permanent Supportive Housing

Sioux City, IA - May 4, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan awarded more than $216 million to nearly 700 new homeless programs across the country. This amount represents $26 million more than last year’s grants and, combined with renewal funding announced earlier this year, represents the most homelessness assistance ever awarded by HUD. State of Iowa Receives $3.2 Million in Affordable Housing Funds
