Mercy Loan Fund (MLF), a leading Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) today announced that it has provided a loan to Chesapeake Community Advisors (CCA) and Trinity Village Non Profit Housing Corp. (Trinity) for the acquisition of Cedar River Tower, an 85-home community for seniors with low incomes in Waterloo, Iowa.

The number of homes sold in November were up 14.9 percent when compared to November’s totals last year according to the official Housing Trends Report from the Iowa Association of REALTORS® (IAR).

Iowa Home Sales up 7.5 percent and Prices up 7.0 percent in September

Home sales rose 7.5 percent in 2016 and home prices were up 7.0 percent when compared to September 2015. The number of homes sold in September rose 7.5 percent from last year. 3,853 homes were sold in September of this year, while 3,583 were sold during September 2015. This year’s numbers in real estate continue to show a strong and solid market in Iowa. The number of properties sold from January through September were 4.3 percent higher than the same period last year.

Iowa Home Sale Prices Continue Upward Trend in July

Home sale prices rose almost 2 percent in July 2016 and homes sold were down 9 percent when compared to July 2015. According to the Housing Trends Report by Iowa Association of REALTORS®, the median sale price for July 2016 is $152,500 as compared to $150,000 in July of last year.

Iowa Home Prices Continue to Rise; Sales Hold Steady in January

The Iowa Association of REALTORS® (IAR) reported that January home prices are up, homes are selling faster and number of sales dipped slightly when compared to January of last year. According to the IAR’s Housing Trends Report, the median sale price increased by 12 percent. The median sale price rose from $121,000 in January of 2015 to $135,500 in January of 2016.

Homes Prices up 8.7% in October; Sales in 2015 Outpace Last Year.

Home sales dropped 8.3 percent from October of last year. 3,412 homes sold last month, while 3,719 homes sold in October 2014. Despite this drop in sales, total sales for the year is 5.8 percent higher than in 2014.
