WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 18, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Leonard Boswell (IA-3) today announced the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded $362,170 to Primary Health Care, Inc. in Urbandale to help serve homeless veterans and their families.

“Homelessness among our veterans is a serious issue and this funding will help very low-income veteran families with finding permanent housing situations,” Boswell said. “I congratulate Primary Health Care on their award and thank them for their continued work serving our community and our veterans.”

Primary Health Care, Inc. plans to serve approximately 150 participant households in Marshall and Polk Counties.

“Primary Health Care has been assisting homeless individuals and families in our community for many years. We are extremely excited to be able to expand these services to veterans and their families,” said Kelly Huntsman, Executive Director of Primary Heath Care, Inc.

The grant is part of the VA’s expanding Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program, a critical element of the Department’s plan to prevent and end homelessness among veterans.
