Updated: Governor Culver Continues Work on Budget at Capitol; Lt. Governor Judge Talks I-JOBS in Iowa City, Welcomes Home Troops in Perry

Governor’s Press Conference to be held at 3pm tomorrow
UPDATED ADVISORY FOR WEDNESDAY:

DES MOINES, IA – October 27, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Governor Chet Culver and Lt. Governor Patty Judge will hold three public events on Wednesday. The Governor will remain at the State Capitol in Des Moines to finalize departmental budget plans, while the Lt. Governor attends events in Iowa City and Perry.

Lt. Governor Judge will begin the day in Iowa City to break ground on Iowa City’s New Fire Station #4. The $4.5 million project will utilize more than $2.2 million from the Culver/Judge I-JOBS program, which is investing $830 million across the state to improve infrastructure and support jobs. The project, which became a priority for the city after the 2008 floods, is expected to create 18 permanent jobs when completed.

In the afternoon, the Lt. Governor will travel to Perry to welcome home troops from the 1168th Transportation Company. This is one of five homecoming ceremonies planned tomorrow for troops from the 1168th and the 1133rd Heavy Equipment Transport Company. The troops were deployed last October and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Governor Culver will hold a press conference late in the afternoon, where he will update the media and public on plans to reduce state government spending by 10 percent.
