Iowa Home Prices up 5.1% in October
The median sale price rose 5.1 percent in October 2016 when compared to October 2015 according to the official Housing Trends Report from the Iowa Association of REALTORS® (IAR).
Iowa Home Sales up 7.5 percent and Prices up 7.0 percent in September
Home sales rose 7.5 percent in 2016 and home prices were up 7.0 percent when compared to September 2015. The number of homes sold in September rose 7.5 percent from last year. 3,853 homes were sold in September of this year, while 3,583 were sold during September 2015.
This year’s numbers in real estate continue to show a strong and solid market in Iowa. The number of properties sold from January through September were 4.3 percent higher than the same period last year.
Grassley Joins Colleagues in Encouraging Obama Administration to Abandon Proposed Estate Tax Regulations
Led by U.S. Sens. John Thune (R-S.D.), a member of the tax-writing Senate Finance Committee, and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, 41 Senate Republicans today wrote to Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew encouraging the Treasury Department to abandon proposed regulations that would significantly increase the estate tax burden on family farms and businesses. The proposed regulations, if finalized, would contradict long-standing legal precedent and greatly discourage families from continuing to operate and grow their farms and businesses for eventual transfer to future generations.

Home sale prices rose almost 2 percent in July 2016 and homes sold were down 9 percent when compared to July 2015. According to the Housing Trends Report by Iowa Association of REALTORS®, the median sale price for July 2016 is $152,500 as compared to $150,000 in July of last year.
Branstad appoints Camille Valley to the Iowa Property Assessment Appeal Board
Gov. Terry E. Branstad announced today that he has appointed Camille Valley to the Iowa Property Assessment Appeal Board. Valley’s term on the Iowa Property Assessment Appeal Board begins Friday, August 26, 2016 and ends April 30, 2019. According to the Housing Trends Report by Iowa Association of REALTORS®, home sale prices rose 5.6 percent in April 2016 and homes sold were up 5.3 percent when compared to April of last year. The median sale price for April 2016 was $142,500 as compared to $135,000 in April of last year.
