Approximately 23,000 youth age out of the foster care system each year. For youth who age out of the foster care system, finding reliable and secure housing is one of their biggest challenges. According to the Iowa Association of REALTORS® (IAR) March 2015 Housing Trends Report, home sales rose by 17.3 percent when compared to last year at this time. 2,870 homes were sold last month in comparison to 2,446 homes in March 2014.

The Iowa Finance Authority and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources recently announced that 18 Iowa communities with current State Revolving Fund loans for water quality projects will be saving a total of more than $526,000 in interest over the life of the loans as a result of the their interest rate being reduced from 3% to 1.75%.
