Branstad appoints Camille Valley to the Iowa Property Assessment Appeal Board
Gov. Terry E. Branstad announced today that he has appointed Camille Valley to the Iowa Property Assessment Appeal Board. Valley’s term on the Iowa Property Assessment Appeal Board begins Friday, August 26, 2016 and ends April 30, 2019. Valley, who resides in Johnston, will be eligible for a full six-year appointment in April 2019 at the conclusion of her partial appointment announced today

Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and Iowa Sec. of Agriculture Bill Northey will join US Housing and Urban Development officials, Mayor Roy Buol of Dubuque and City of Dubuque officials, additional state officials and key stakeholders to provide significant flood reduction and water quality grant details. The leaders will discuss efforts to help accelerate flood reduction and water quality efforts in key watersheds around the state.

Governor Designates Emmet County as Home Base Iowa Community and Iowa Lakes Community College...
Gov. Terry E. Branstad today announced Emmet County has met the criteria to become designated as a Home Base Iowa Community. Today he also announced Iowa Lakes Community College has been designated as a Home Base Iowa Certified Higher Academic Military Partner (CHAMP). A formal announcement and press conference will be held today in Estherville at the Iowa Lakes Community College at 4:30 p.m.
Manchester Whitewater Park Grand Opening June 20 During “Let it Flow” Riverfest
Northeast Iowa is home to Iowa’s newest river attraction as the Manchester Whitewater Park opens June 20. The grand opening is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature whitewater kayak and standup paddle board demonstrations as well as a ceremony at 11 a.m. on the riverfront. The celebration is part of the “Let it Flow” Riverfest, which kicks off Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a street fair featuring live music and food vendors from the area.
Senators Announce Caucus on Foster Youth Panel Discussion on Homelessness
Sen. Chuck Grassley and Sen. Debbie Stabenow, leaders of the Caucus on Foster Youth, today announced a panel discussion on homelessness among foster youth. Homelessness and unstable housing are serious problems for the approximately 23,000 youth who age out of the foster care system each year.
